HOSTILE SKY by Robert Taylor. A P-38 Lightning challenges a pair of Fw-190s head on, breaking up their attack on a damaged B-24 Liberator, high over Belgium, early 1944. This Limited Edition print is numbered 1125/1250 and is individually signed by the Artist as well as by Colonel Gerald Brown, Colonel John Lowell, Captain Alfred Grislawski, and Captain Gunther Schack. The framed lithograph is 38.5 inches wide x 29 inches tall, was printed in 1991, and has been framed and double matted ever since. Please feel free to ask questions or request additional photographs. Colonel Gerald Brown first served with the 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group, and became the first P38 Ace in the 8th Air Force. During his second tour, he flew P-51 Mustangs with the 334th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group. He later flew in Korea, was shot down, and spent three years as a POW. Was a P-38 Fighter Pilot with the 384th Fighter Squadron, 364th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force, and was credited with 7.5 kills. There is an unconfirmed story that he had a dogfight in his P-38 against an Fw-109 flown by Adolf Galand, and that it was a draw.
Was credited with 133 victories claimed in over 800 combat missions. He recorded 24 victories over the Western Front, including 18.
Four-engine bombers, and 109 victories over the Eastern Front. Is credited with 174 enemy aircraft shot down in 780 combat missions. All of his victories were claimed on the Eastern Front.
