The print is on the finest grade neutral pH permanent paper imported specifically from France. The print is in excellent condition, never framed, and stored flat in a nonsmoking environment. The overall size of the print is 32" x 23.75". The print depicts an incident near Arras, France on 29 August 1918 during which Henry Botterell, piloting a Sopwith Camel, encountered a German observation balloon. After completing his bombing mission over Vitry, he headed back along the same course.
As he neared Arras, he saw the observation balloon being winched down and he attacked the balloon. As the balloon was set aflame, the observer abandoned the balloon and parachuted to the ground. The print is signed by Robert Taylor and First World War fighter pilot Henry Botterell.
