Doug Canning breaks radio silence to call the sighting of Admiral Yamamoto's flight over the pacific island of Bourganville, 18 April 1943. 11 O'CLOCK HIGH is a powerful depiction of "Operation Vengeance, " the famous mission to shoot down Admiral Yamamoto in April 1943. Painted by Robert Taylor, signed by him in the art, produced as an over-sized lithographic print in a limited edition of 1,200. Each print was personally signed by each of the NINE surviving P-38 Lightning ace pilots who flew on the raid.

These are actual hand signatures, not reproductions. Each print is signed by all NINE surviving P-38 Lightning pilots who flew the most successful intercept mission of World War II: Colonel John Mitchell Lieutenant Colonel Roger J Ames Colonel Rex Barber Lieutenant Colonel Doug Canning Captain Delton Goerke Captain Larry Graebener Lieutenant Colonel Besby F Holmes Major Julius Jacobson Lieutenant Colonel Louis R Kittel. THE ARTIST: Robert Taylor (1946 - 2024). Robert Taylor's aviation paintings have drawn crowds in the international arena since the early 1980s.

He exhibited throughout the US and Canada, Australia, Japan and in Europe. His one-man exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC was hailed as the most popular art exhibition ever held there.

His paintings hang in many of the world's great aviation museums, adorn boardrooms, offices and homes, and his limited edition prints are avidly collected all around the world. His art is instantly recognizable conveying all the technical detail of aviation in a traditional and painterly style that's reminiscent of the Old Masters. With uncanny ability, he could recreate scenes from the past with a realism and dynamism that few other artists ever manage to achieve. Although famous he was an easy-going, gentle character who charmed all who were fortunate enough to have met him. Robert Taylor recently passed away in January of 2024.
