John Young INSPIRATION Spitfire 20 SIGNATURE RAF post- Battle of Britain Aviation Art Print. CONDITION: Was previously framed and the white border has been neatly trimmed, but otherwise in perfect condition. SIZE: 21.25 by 26.5 inches. SIGNATURES: Hand-signed and numbered in pencil by the artist Frank Wootton and TWENTY pilots who flew with Bader, most of them flew during the Battle of Britain.

The Certificate of Authenticity is included. One of the most pleasing images of the Spitfire ever painted.

This print depicts Douglas Bader leading his wing on his final sortie - August 9, 1941. It was published on the 60th Anniversary of that event. All 20 pilots who signed the print flew with Bader during the war.

Most of them were Battle of Britain veterans. The print was previously framed and the top edge and sides have been trimmed, but the bottom has not. There is a bit more than a half-inch of white border at the top, so it could be framed with a half-inch white border around the top and sides. The bottom is fully intact. Once framed, no one would ever know the print was trimmed.

Other than the trim, the print is in perfect condition. Like Frank Wootton, John Young was one of the few artists who was around while World War 2 was happening.

He was younger, and if you read his book, recounts stories of seeing the aircraft in the skies and pedaling his bike down to the local airfield to watch the operations. There's something special about paintings by aviation artists who actually observed the events they are portraying! I only wish John Young had done more aviation paintings. He's done a few of my favorites like this one, Very Important Painting, and Search For The Needle.

Never framed, stored flat in a non-smoking, climate-controlled environment. Check my feedback - it's excellent.
