For sale is a limited edition print by renowned aviation artist, Robert Taylor. The print comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Military Gallery. The print is on acid free archival paper.
The print is in good condition, but has minor creasing outside of the image area (see picture). It has never been framed and is stored flat in a nonsmoking environment. The overall size of the print is 34.5" x 25". The print is signed by Robert Taylor and 6 Luftwaffe Aces.
This is the third print in the Protagonists Series. The JG-52 flew against the French before taking on the RAF Spitfires and Hurricanes during the Battle for France and the Battle of Britain.
In October 1940, it withdrew to rebuild and after the fall of Crete, it assumed the first fighter role in southern Russia. Though conditions were appalling, the pilots flew a tremendous number of missions. The Wing lost 678 of its aircrews in achieving 10,000 aerial victories. The print depicts a Messerschmitt Me109g as it powers through a flight of Russian Yak9s, his wingman narrowly missing a damaged enemy fighter.
