You can't talk about military, aviation art and not talk about Robert Taylor. He just has the ability of reliving actual events with paint on canvas. This piece is no exception - MORAL SUPPORT.

I think that's a rather understated title, but being it's from the perspective of a British pilot, I guess it's fitting. What is of the greatest interest in this piece is the pilot whose signature is in the lower right hand corner, Group Captain Peter Townsend. Not only was ha WW2 Ace, but, also romantically associated with Princess Margaret. If you've watched THE CROWN, you'll recognize the name. According to all accounts, he was her true love. The print is from a limited edition run of 1500. Best I can tell, the prints were not numbered individually, but released as a run. I have seen the COA of the print and it simply states "limited edition of 1500". The COA for this piece is neither present nor accounted for.

This piece appears to have been framed about the time of it's release, 1985, from a frame shop in the UK. A quick Google search, shows the gallery is long gone. The frame shows appropriate wear for it's age, nicks and minor scratches, but nothing that is too distracting. The print is held in place by a piece of hardboard, not matte board, as is usually found here is the States. There is the smallest dimple/crease on the lower left corner that had to have happened before framing.

It's about 3/4 long. The frame measures approx 28.25" x 21.5". The exposed print measures approx 21.5" x 15". Glad to answer any questions.
