Robert Taylor The Battle of the Nile. Admiral Horatio Nelson & the HMS Vanguard. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself. Very nice rendering of this pivotal battle between the French and British in the late 1700s.

The piece is entitled, "The Battle of the Nile". The print was done by Robert Taylor, a well known war and nautical artist. The print is dated 1982. This should be a limited edition print based upon what is noted from online research as signed by the artist, but not numbered just like one being offered on the artist site (not framed or matted) and noted as such.

We can do that by being a dealer in artwork for over 40 years, better controlling our acquisition costs, keeping commission costs low (if applicable). From the Robert Taylor site. Shows the battle at approximately 1800 hours after Nelson's fleet had solidly engaged the French. The battle ensued throughout the night and the following morning saw 11 French men of war either destroyed or taken. The result of this famous victory was that Nelson regained control of the Mediterranean, severing the link between France and napoleon's army in Egypt, thus thwarting Napoleon's plans to capture Egypt and invade India.

The certificate of authenticity is not with the piece. We do not see any foxing or brown spotting going on with this piece.

The print is framed and matted. Beautiful wood look frame and then an antique white, to blue to green leveled matting around the print.

The paper backing is in place on the back of the piece, some tears. No hanging wire, hooks are there. The Battle of the Nile Print in frame is 45.25" across by 33-7/8" tall, by 1-5/8 wide. The print shown within the matting is " across by 26-3/8" tall. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
