SURPRISE ATTACK By Robert Taylor. Whilst attacking a B-17 formation southeast of Berlin on April 10th 1945 Oberleutnant Walter Schuck, flying his Me262 with JG7, is caught in a surprise attack by the P-51 Mustang of Flt Lt Joseph Peterburs, flying with the 20th Fighter Group.

With his aircraft hit Schuck was forced to bail out, injuring both ankles upon landing, and the war ended before he recovered. Peterburs was himself brought down later that day while strafing an airfield, evading capture for the rest of the war.

After the war Joe and Walter became friends and met several times at airshows and events around the world. This graphite print is personally signed by the artist Robert Taylor and the two Fighter Pilots involved. Knights Cross with Oak Leaves / 206 victories. This historic print was released in 2010 and is a great study of this actual event, involving two great aviators of WWII. The prints in my store are hand-signed by the veterans involved in the painting so the signatures are original autographs and not reproductions.

The certificate of authenticity is always included. My listings are guaranteed to be in perfect condition unless it is clearly specified otherwise in the description.
